How to Set Up Attributes in WooCommerce
What’s a Global Attribute?
Attributes in WooCommerce are options that differentiate the main product. For example, a T-shirt might come in various sizes (S – XXL) and colors (Blue, Purple, Pink). These attributes can be applied to any product type, including Simple and Variable products.
Steps to Set Up Global Attributes:
1. Navigate to Attributes:
- Go to ‘Products’ and then select ‘Attributes’ in your WordPress dashboard.
2. Create an Attribute:
- Enter the name of your attribute, like ‘Color’ or ‘Size’.

3. Configure Attribute Terms:
- On the right side, select the attribute you just created and click ‘Configure Terms’.
4. Add Attribute Terms:
- Add the terms (values) for your attribute. For example, for ‘Color’, add terms like ‘Red’, ‘Yellow’, and ‘Green’.

6. Assigning Attributes to Products:
- Scroll down to the ‘Product Data’ section on your product page.
- Click on ‘Attributes’.
- Use the dropdown to select your new attribute and click ‘Add’.
- Once added, select all the applicable values for that product. For instance, if it’s a shirt available in green and yellow, select these colors but not red.
Note: Global attributes are reusable across multiple products, making it easier to manage similar options across your store. By setting up these attributes, you can efficiently categorize and display the variations of your products to customers.
